Learn Car Driving in 6 Days

One of the liveliest planets in the universe seems to be the Earth. People on Earth are always striving hard to find new things and there is drastic improvement in the technology. Earth though big enough seems to be becoming smaller because of the fact that the transportation has become faster with the growing technology. In this world who doesn’t like driving? Yes, driving has become a regular need for many in this world. But how many have this skill?

In this blog I am going to help you by giving some tips on driving a car. But these are just a few tips and hence don’t ever try them without having an expert driver sitting beside you. If you don’t know driving and you drive alone, it’s at your own risk and I am not responsible for anything that might happen consequently. This blog may also help (as a guidance) drivers who would like to teach others this skill. I have it listed day wise to help you better.

Day 1: Learner’s License.

The very first thing you ought to do before learning to drive a car is apply for a Learner’s License. This is a must if you are an Indian Citizen. Stick a big “L” sticker to the front and rear of the car.

Day 2: Clutch, Brake, Steering and Accelerator.

It’s recommended that you start your first lesson in a vacant ground (play ground) so that you don’t run over pedestrians walking on the road. Do be careful if there are children/people playing in the ground.

The driving class begins with having the clutch and brake depressed by your foot and starting the car by turning the ignition key. Use the gear shift to shift to first gear. Release the brake partially. Now release the clutch slowly while also releasing the brake. After the clutch and brake are released fully, you can see the car moving forward slowly. Steering using the driving wheel and turn wherever necessary. After moving for some distance, depress the clutch and the brake together. Again release brake partially and release clutch slowly, while releasing the brake further. The car moves. After some distance apply brake along with clutch. Repeat this process several times to gain control of the clutch and brake operation.

Always remember that brake is applied accompanied by the application of clutch too. Clutch is applied to keep the engine On. If brake is applied fully while not applying the clutch, the engine stops.

You can now try the application of accelerator now. When the car is moving, apply accelerator and you can see the car speeding up. The more pressure you have on the accelerator, the more is the speed.

To stop the car, release the accelerator, apply brake and clutch, turn off the ignition.

Day 3: Shifting Gears.

If you are confident enough that you have got sufficient control over the pedals from Day 2 class, you can start driving on the road. (If you think you are not confident enough, repeat the Day 2 class.) Start the car; release the clutch and brake while in first gear to move the car. After moving some distance, hold the clutch and shift to second gear. Release the clutch. Apply accelerator slowly to keep the car moving. Control the speed depending on the traffic in the road. As a beginner, while driving on the road, stick to either left or right side (where applicable) of the road rather than driving in the center so that you need to concentrate only on one side. I recommend being on the left side of the road. After travelling some more distance when you see that the car has enough momentum, release the accelerator, depress clutch, shift to third gear, release clutch and simultaneously apply accelerator. Repeat the process to shift to fourth gear. In case of humps on the roads, slow down the car by applying brake partially, without the application of clutch. After you cross the hump, you can release the brake and control accelerator. In some cases if you see that while applying partial brake the car vibrates, then apply clutch. This will prevent the engine from shutting off. I recommend that you shift to second gear if you are in third gear while going over a hump. Use Indicators or hand signal while taking turns. Use horns wherever necessary.

Day 4: Reverse Gear.

Now that you got a hold on shifting gears and moving forward, it’s advisable to learn driving backwards too. Stop the car. While applying the clutch and brake, shift to reverse gear. Now release clutch slowly and then brake likewise. Control the steering wheel to move right or left.

Day 5: Driving on the Uphill.

Car driving is easy as long as the road is flat, but what if the car stops while going uphill? You need not panic in such cases, just follow what is said. Hold brake and clutch, turn the Ignition, and shift to first gear. Release clutch partially while holding brake till you see the car vibrate. Now release brake slowly until the car moves and then apply accelerator slowly as required to get the momentum.

Day 6: Parking, Driving in Traffic.

While parking a car use first gear and reverse gear. Use accelerator rarely. Control the speed of the car using clutch and brake while in first gear or reverse gear. You can also use the rear mirrors for your help while driving backwards.

In a slow moving traffic, you can drive on your first gear.
